Entry: Crushing Dissent Saturday, October 14, 2006

Because of my migraine headache accompanied by nausea, I direct you the Unclaimed Territory's editorial on Peggy Noonan's complaints about the Left's intolerance of dissent. This is one of the finest op-ed responses I have read in the Blogosphere since my return.

Before you read Glenn Greenwald's piece, remember the words of Teddy Roosevelt: "
To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." (1918)

Seditious indeed, Mr. President! But if you were alive today, I think the current incarnation of your party would have busted your trust, so to speak.

Wow. Ain't I a smartie? I was trying to explain to my father why I thought blindly following the Bush administration amounted to treason (if one cares about one's country, one owes it to keep a watchful eye on its leaders blah blah blah), but my father just looked at me, got all heated, and ended the argument by telling me the reason he knows Richard Gere is gay.

Sadly, by the time I am old enough to explain to my father why he has always been wrong, he is too senile to comprehend how I could possibly be right.
